Experiment Video Library

Watch guided experiment tutorials designed to make setup, instruction, and classroom delivery effortless. Each video includes a teacher demonstration plus downloadable student instructions.

Invisible Gas Experiment

Learn how combining baking soda and citric acid creates an invisible gas that inflates a balloon right before your eyes! In this video, Dr. Sarah walks you through the setup, safety tips, and best practices for guiding students through this exciting chemical reaction.

Fizzing Test Tubes Experiment

Explore how changing ingredient amounts impacts the strength of a chemical reaction. This tutorial shows you how to set up four test tubes with different baking soda and citric acid ratios, helping students visualize how variables affect fizzing and gas production.

Dancing Corn Experiment

Discover how gas bubbles can make solids move! In this demo, we explain how baking soda and citric acid produce carbon dioxide that lifts corn kernels, creating a “dancing” effect. A fun and visual way to explore the interaction between matter and gases.

Rainbow Density Experiment

Learn how to make colourful liquid layers by changing sugar concentration in water. This video guides you step by step through preparing solutions, carefully layering them, and explaining why density keeps the colours separated — a perfect mix of science and art!

Our experiments are fully aligned with the Grade 3 Ontario Science & Technology expectations.

Ontario Science Curriculum Connections

A: STEM Skills and Connections:

A1.1 use a scientific research process and associated skills to conduct investigations

A1.2 use a scientific experimentation process and associated skills to conduct investigations

A1.4 follow established health and safety procedures during science and technology investigations, including wearing appropriate protective equipment and clothing and safely using tools, instruments, and materials

A1.5 communicate their findings, using science and technology vocabulary and formats that are appropriate for specific audiences and purposes

A3.1 describe practical applications of science and technology concepts in their home and community, and how these applications address real-world problems

C: Matter and Energy Forces and Motion

C1.1 assess the effects of the action of forces from natural phenomena on natural and built environments, and identify ways in which human activities can reduce or enhance these effects

C2.1 describe different types of contact forces and non-contact forces

C2.2 describe different ways a force can be exerted on an object

C2.3 describe how different forces applied to an object, including forces of varying magnitude, can cause the object to start, stop, or change its direction, speed, or shape
